Busy days down here…

The last couple of days have been quite busy for me down here.

On Friday morning, I met with representatives of the Organización Nacional Indígena de Colombia – ONIC. I might have an interview with its president this week to discuss the issues faced by peoples at risk of extinction. I will keep you updated on this. In the afternoon, I went photo hunting with Lora and Charlie, a young couple from Kansas. Here are some of the photos I snapped.

Friday evening, I went up to the Barrio El Dorado to gather some footage and interviews for my documentary. Luz de Luna did a presentation to a group of local residents who will take part in a parade downtown Bogotá on August 28, 2010. More to come on this as well…

Yesterday, Lora, Charlie and I went to Zipaquirá, a town about 30-45 minutes north of Bogotá. There, we visited the Catedral de Sal (Salt Cathedral), an underground church built about 200 meters below a mountain. We then came back to Bogotá and stopped by the Centro Comercial Santafé, the second largest shopping centre in South America. Finally, this afternoon, I went to El Parque Metropolitano Simón Bolívar with Robbie, a guy from England. I will try to post photos of both ”touristic outings” tomorrow.
